Home and Garden

This weekend was all about home improvement.

First thing Saturday, Jason started removing the paneling in our living room. And what did we find underneath?

Why, more paneling, of course:

I can't decide which one's worse. :)

Underneath the second layer of paneling was some white wall paper, and under that? MORE wallpaper. We were peelin' away the decades. Check this out:

Around two, we decided it was time for a lunch break and headed to the Renaissance Cafe in downtown Tacoma. This place is great - nothing is prepackaged, and everything is made with the owner's secret recipe (this one's not so secret - he steams his scrambled eggs with an espresso machine. Sounds crazy, tastes great!). We sat at the window bar and people-watched. This is the only place in Tacoma where I've been able to find barbecue brisket sandwiches.

After lunch, we headed down the road to the Tacoma Dome, where they were having the fall home and garden show. Lots of fun, but I wouldn't recommend going to one of these unless you're looking to spend money. We were able to exercise restraint, but not without talking ourselves out of granite countertops and a new hot tub.

We left at around 8 p.m., and headed out to meet my friend Reese for wine. The Pour at Four is a little wine bar in our neighborhood, and it's one of our favorite places to hang out. Here are a couple of pictures:

We spent about three hours talking relationships, dating, politics, and work. Jason and I got home at around 11, watched some t.v. and went to bed.

Today, Jason went to the Seahawks game with a rep from C.H. Robinson, and I stayed home doing a couple loads of laundry and some work. Tonight we had breakfast for dinner, watched "The Happening," and will be going to bed in a few minutes. We're both on our laptops, halfway watching "Batman" and laughing at the bad parts.

Back in Abilene, I guess everyone's heading home from the reunion. My friend Diana posted about it today. There's an old picture of her with me and Amanda Butz (Bonacci) that she posted, and I stole it to post here:

My goodness, time goes by fast.

Sounds like quite a day! I spent my entire Saturday finding the cheapest way to rent a truck in order to pick up a computer armoire I'd bought from a guy in Little Elm. EG and I had just enough time to return the truck to Home Depot to stop by his mom's house for dinner, and go home to pass out. A weekend out like you guys had makes me feel like EG and I should get out more often. Or like I need to open a bottle of wine...
